Happy 4th of July, everybody- Even though I am not doing what I sort of wanted to, I am having a great weekend here on Panama City Beach in this FALL-like weather!

As goes life - last week's depressing rain brought this weekend's crystal clear fresh air and water. Blue skies and breezes. I went to Crooked Island a few miles east of here yesterday and saw more shells than I could remember seeing in a pile anywhere since Sanibel Island back in the '80s.
Today I go to thank God for sparing us so far, and for this beautiful country he has put me in-there's no where in the world more beautiful than Atlanta in June, folks. Now, here.
I also thank God for my wacky, wonderful family. We are one interesting bunch. Here's a story from Macon.com remembering the event that gave us the Atlanta International Pop Festival. I became interested in this event when my mom gave me the poster for it. She said she and Barbara. draped on the hood of a VW Bug, were shot by a newspaper while waiting in the line of cars to get in the speedway at Byron where the festival was taking place- Check out this article for a Fourth from the past!
